Jason and the Argonauts

Calling all movie lovers, students and people of all ages, watch Jason and the Argonauts released year 2000. This movie is based on the Greek mythology story of Jason’s adventure to retrieve the Golden Fleece. You will learn many values from this movie. The movie shows adventure, courage, friendship and hardships. This movie is full of adventure, adventures that can take you anywhere in your wildest dream. But sadly some effects are not good all. Right music and great cinematography brighten up the film but what’s brighter than the actors than the actors themselves. The actors portrayed their role very well. But there some that I didn’t like continue reading to know who’s who. Want to know more about Greek mythology then you should watch this movie. This is a great start and your gateway to Greek mythology. So get your popcorn and start rolling the film. Children are advice to watch with their parents. There are parts that are not suitable for young audiences.

The movie is all about the adventure of Jason and the Argonauts. It all started Jason returned home to reclaim his throne from his uncle, King Pelias. But Pelias sentenced him and his mother to death; to save themselves, Jason promised that he will retrieved the Golden Fleece. Believing that he is protected by the Gods, Jason sailed with the Argonauts. They’ve across many challenges before reaching the Golden Fleece. They passed all challenges and got the Golden Fleece back to their kingdom. But Pelias tried to kill Jason. Jason knew so he defend himself and kill Pelias. At the end Jason rule with his wife Medea. This story is based on Greek mythology so it shows the culture of Greece. Jason and the Argonauts showed teamwork along their journey. The Argonauts help Jason to retrieve the Golden Fleece. Through watching this movie we can learn that a person can change for good. The thief in the movie changes heart to serve Jason. Another is to rule is to lead not just for power. King Pelias take over the throne of his brother just for power and kill him.

In making a movie actors are the centre of attraction. Jason London who played Jason in the movie is emotionless. Jason should be fierce and ready to fight. But I salute him for doing his stunts. Olivia Williams, who played Hera, is very beautiful even without makeup. Angus Macfadyen acted who as Zeus should have silvered hair so we can easily recognize that his playing Zeus. Brian Thompson is really buff and tall. He played Hercules. The costumes of the actors and extras look real Greek clothing.

This movie was released on May 7, 2000. About the editing of the movie, here are my thoughts: some monsters do not look real, Like for example the bull and the dragon. But considering the technology before maybe it’s very impressive. Some scenes are not cut well. There are scenes that from excitement, the scene became sad and dull.

The music and the sound effects can add up to your senses. Simon Boswell was the one responsible for the music scoring.  But in this movie some scenes don’t have background music. So those scenes became dull and boring for me. As for the rest of the movie the scoring was great. It was very right for the scene, like for example when Jason and his crew are sailing through the ocean.  The thunder and lightning sound is very realistic.

There’s sound when Zeus is angry or annoyed at Hera.  here's what I can say about the movie's cinematography

When Zeus is angry the clouds darken, when his done the clouds turn to normal. The places where they shot the movie look like real Greek Times. I am very amaze that they really sailed through the sea. They captured the beautiful scenery of the ocean.
